Stumptown

“The bean, the whole bean and nothing but the bean” should be the slogan for this chain of coffee houses in Portland and Seattle. This is Starbucks without the gimmicks. Just great coffee.

I visited the downtown Portland Stumptown  on 3rd Avenue at 8 on a Monday morning and had to wait as three hardworking tattooed barristas did their thing. Their work gave the term “morning rush” new meaning. The latte was worth the ten minute wait. It was creamy and smooth. The underlying coffee flavor gave me the jolt I was looking for.

Stumptown is the coffee aficionado – the real deal. They source their beans from around the  world, backing up the beans with photography that is mind-expanding. Check it out if you are a photography buff.
