This time of year brings back memories of loved ones who, though near and dear to our hearts, are no longer with us. Now, stirring in my brain is the that Christmas ditty that goes, “Over the river and through the woods. To Grandmother’s house we go…”
Who doesn’t miss the warm hug and big smile that grandmother and grandfather gave each child as they burst though the front door?
Not Today
Not today,
The sleet and snow
May freeze the nose
And pinch the cheek.
The storm may blast
And rage about.
While even on
The dark and coldest day,
The heart that’s kind
Stays ever warm.
