Outwordled

Were You Outwordled Today?

Oz should just tattoo a gig “L” on his forehead. Oz, the author of this blog, plays Wordle, the word guessing game, daily. As good as he is, he consistently loses to women. Being “outwordled” is something he’ll have to get used to.

New words are being created constantly. The OED list more than 700 new words this year alone. These include groomzilla, antipodist, and antigram. The first seems to have something to do with weddings though it’s not what you think. The second is an acrobat who performs upside down, and a nod to cartographers who already have that word in their vocabulary. The last is a play on anagram, finding a word that means the opposite, and one supposes a new New York Times quiz.

Let me suggest “outwordled” meaning out-guessed and out-thought, half luck, half skill. Maybe, in time, one will shorten it to “Wordled” indicating that one is simply guessing and hoping everything turns out right.

I wordled this blog without much thought, and I hope you found it amusing. By the way, I solved Wordle in four today. Did you outwordle me? If so, congrats and kudos, you must be quite smart, or damn lucky, or both.
